About Our New Location

We are excited that Array 2024 will convene at the Hynes Convention Center. This venue offers a central location in the heart of Boston’s historic Back Bay neighborhood, adjacent to Downtown. Boston Victorian Brownstones, beautiful gardens, and the vibrant Newbury Street are just outside the doors. Hynes is located on the Green Line of Boston’s MBTA subway system with easy access to Boston Logan Airport and the surrounding area for visitors to explore.

The Hynes Convention Center is directly connected to the Prudential Center, with over 60 shops and restaurants; it’s one of Boston’s most concentrated shopping locations. A few blocks away, one can find Newbury Street, which houses a concentration of local businesses. Newbury Street runs between Massachusetts Avenue and the Boston Public Gardens, connecting the cities main thoroughfares.

Boston is an extremely walkable city, with several parks and gardens for outdoor adventures. The Commonwealth Avenue Mall runs parallel to Newbury Street, offering a strip of calm next to the bustle of the city. The Emerald Necklace is a 1,100 acre chain of parks starting in Back Bay and ending at Olmsted Park, tracing waterways leading to the Charles River. In addition, the Esplanade runs against the Charles river, and the Boston Public Garden and Boston Common will be bursting with fall colors at the time of the conference in October.

Permanent treasures, hands-on exhibits, and ever-changing temporary exhibitions can be found at the city’s famed museums: the Museum of Fine Arts, the Museum of Science, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, the Institute of Contemporary Art, the New England Aquarium, the Museum of African American History, the Harvard Art Museums, and the MIT Museum to name but a few.

Getting Here

This year, we will by at the Hynes convention center. We hope that this central location in Boston will be convenient for everyone to attend.

For those coming via Boston Logan Airport, renting a car will not be necessary to get to the conference and see all that the city has to offer.

Boston’s public transit system, the MBTA, also called “The T” has a network of subways and buses for you to explore the city. Transit directions are available on most map applications. You can purchase one-way fares and passes at train stations. We recommend using the app Transit (https://transitapp.com) to help you navigate; the app uses realtime data to give you accurate arrival times.

If you would like any help navigating these services from your location, reach out to Elizabeth, our local transit enthusiast.

One if by land

If you are driving to the conference, parking is available in the area.

To avoid traffic, local commuters may also want to explore commuter rail or transit directions from your departure locations.

For those coming from the North, the green line was recently expanded to Tufts in Somerville, providing a new direct option.

In addition, MBTA buses from neighboring towns are a good alternative to city driving. Many communities run private shuttle services to Alewife or other hubs, like the Rev from Lexington center.

Two if by air

From the airport there are two options for getting to Hynes:

1. Logan Express to Back Bay Station https://loganexpress.com/buy-tickets.asp (Free from the airport, and $3 from back bay to the airport)

2. Take a shuttle bus to the Blue Line and board the Blue line inbound to Government Center. Rider fares are available to purchase at the Blue line station. At Government Center, transfer to the any branch of Green Line heading westbound. The Hynes Convention Center is closest to the Prudential stop on the E branch of the Green line. It is also at the “Hynes Convention Center” stop on the B, C, or D branches.
